We recently looked at our Russ’ Monthly Blends, and noticed that sales had slowed down, so we ran an email to let folks know that we would be phasing them out. Not only did we sell a lot of those blends after the email hit, we also began receiving a lot of phone calls and emails asking us not to kill them off. So many people contacted us, in fact, that we have not only decided to keep the old blends, but we’re going to start the Monthly Blend program up again. Starting in July, I’ll be making a new blend each month. Who says that speaking up won’t make a difference. Thanks for your support.

I think I need Sherlock Holmes here. My son and I smoke our pipes together on my screened in porch a couple of times a week. My son smokes Lane LTD BCA (Vanilla flavored) while I smoke either Burley or a mild English blend. We leave our pipes out on the porch until the Chicago weather stops cooperating. All told, we have a rogue squirrel and a couple of chipmunks that get into the porch from time to time through a hole in the screen that I have been too busy to fix this summer. A couple of days ago my son came over to have a pipe and we realized that two of his favorite Rattray pipes were missing. He never takes his pipes out of the porch. Are the critter’s (squirrel) attracted to the vanilla smell and guily of larceny? Our porch is secluded and secure (hole in the screen is not big enough for someone to climb thru. None of my 20 or so pipes have disappeared???
I have restored what appears to be a very old pipe. While cleaning it, I coaxed out the word “Glory” Written in script, and a number which appears to be 324 or 314. I can find nothing on a pipe named “Glory”. Have you heard of such a pipe? It is 6: long, straight, a pea lip bit, no markings on the stem, a small billiard bowl 1.75″ tall.
