Next up I’d like to talk about another Mac Baren’s tobacco – HH Old Dark Fired. Stepping away from my usual genre of Virginia/Perique, I also enjoy many other flake tobaccos. Bold and full bodied, I’ve enjoyed Dark Fired since its release. Upon opening, you’re presented with beautiful, dark chocolate -colored flakes, moist and pliable. The full, musty, mushroom and leather aroma makes my mouth water. I’ve chosen a Gabrieli Bamboo for this tasting. Loading a teased flake lengthwise, with a bit rubbed out on top for kindle, and I’m off. At first light, the full, earthy taste of the dark-fired comes through. There’s some sweetness from the Virginias, subdued and in the background throughout the smoke. The flavor builds as I settle back with a small cup of black coffee. Deep, rich and earthy, meaty, reminiscent of an Emerald Isle tobacco I’m also fond of. This is no light weight, rich, full and dynamic, the flavor builds through out the bowl. If you like dark-fired Kentucky tobacco, you’ve got to give this a ride.
Love to smoke this late at night before bed. Really relaxes me. I have really gotten into the dark fired ky blends. Very tasty and give a great deal of pleasure. Mac is one of several great blends out there
Thanks for sharing this review of Mac Baren HH Old Dark Fired tobacco! It sounds like it is great paired with a cup of black coffee.
