Every New Year’s I have plans to smoke a rare cigar or a pipe tobacco that I have, but every year I end up just smoking something I am in the mood for. I have a problem smoking a cigar that is rare or a tin that I have cellared for years. So every year I start thinking about my New Year’s smoke in early December. I was going through my tins and I came across an old tin of McClelland Navy Cavendish from 1999 and I decided that is going to be my New Year’s smoke. I have already opened the tin to let the tobacco breath and I am looking forward to a nice bowl or two to ring in 2015.
Leave a comment and tell me what you will be smoking when the ball drops.
I have a hard time opening an old tin as well, maybe if i wait just one more year it will be soooooo much better haha. I’m thinking of opening a McCranie’s Red Flake/Ribbon 1983 crop tinned in 1999. I just can’t bring myself to opening one of my 1992 Christmas Cheer tins yet. Maybe next year…. hmmm….
rdg,
Great suggestion, I have quite a few tins of Red Ribbon/Flake put away. I just look at my tins of the 1983 crop and drool. One day I will bring myself to crack a tin.

Kevin I will more than likely be bringIng in the New Year out doors after all the toasting kissing and stealing smooches from those I normally wouldnt get away with. So, since its expected to be around 30* that night I am looking at something and to the point. BURLEY FLAKE #1 or FIVE BROTHERS. Davinci would be nice but with other fussy cigarette smokers its just as simple to hold on latakia for the time being.
Tony,
I will be outside myself. I think the Navy Cavendish will hold up well against the cold weather we will have. Thank you for the comment.

Wish I could stay awake and enjoy a bowl, but working two retirement jobs, and that’s past my bedtime – I know, SAD…. Suggestion to a youngster like yourself – never use credit cards, cash only, and don’ give grandkids everything!!! OK, give them pipes…..
George,
It will be a struggle to stay up that late. I may be tired when I have my pipe, but I am going to do my best to stay awake for the first few minutes of 2015. Then I will go to bed. Thanks for the advise.

Shortly after the clock strikes midnight, I will be enjoying a blend that I have created myself. I call it “Pete’s Best Blend” and it contains equal parts of Five Brothers, Stokkebye’s Virginia, vanilla flavored black cavendish, and a touch of latakia. I get a great nic-hit, and it has a pleasant aroma for everyone to enjoy.
