I am ashamed to admit this, but I have never smoked a corn cob. The only reason I can think of is I just never thought about it. I have my briars and meerschaums and I was happy with them. Well, I am going to change that. I have had a few on my desk for about three weeks, just sitting there. The other day Russ was testing a new blend in a cob and made a comment about how great the cob performed. He said the smoke was sweet and dry and the tobacco burned down to a fine ash. If Russ is praising his corn cob, I think I should at least try it. So going forward I am giving my pipes a rest and smoking a bent Mark Twain. I have found myself gravitating to a certain briar pipe lately and I have smoked it a lot since I got it. Sometimes two to three bowls in a day. This particular pipe is a shape I have always liked and it smokes like a dream. But I am going to give it a long rest and see how I do with the cob. Nothing but a cob until I can’t stand it. Wish me luck.
